My Story
Why I Create NecklacesMy Name is Miriam
My name is Miriam Boswell and here is how I started making one-of-a-kind wire wrapped luxury jewelry…
Looking down, my Aunt Ruth saw the Glock .45 resting in her hands.
Her mind was racing. Dark thoughts of ending her life swirled and mixed with thoughts of loved ones – her four children, my grandma, Kristine, my dad, Joshua, and her other siblings. Pain. Joy. Fear. Hopes.
Each thought came faster, faster, and faster – crashing into each other, each more painful and confusing than the last.
When would it ever end?
For more than 17 years now, the bi-polar disorder had made her life one constant stream of highs and lows. At the age of 42, she just wanted it to end. NOW.
Reaching down she grasped the gun more firmly. When Ruth was 18 years old, she entered military service as an Air Force Air Medic. During Bootcamp, she proved to be a crack shot with all kinds of weapons. She knew exactly how this Glock worked.
“CRACK!”
Ruth jumped out of her skin with shock and dropped the gun as someone slammed their hand against the car window.
Looking up, she saw her brother, my Uncle Adam.
“Open the door, Ruth. I’m here to take you home.”
And with that, the crisis was averted.
My Aunt Ruth was safe.
Something Had to Change…
But something had to change in her life. This was the bottom and something needed to change.
From that day forward, Ruth began a wonderful journey of healing.
Part of that journey included doing something that occupied her hands, her mind, and her heart in serving others.
Ruth began wrapping stones and creating beautiful necklaces.
Each morning, she would get up and pray.
“God, I want to serve someone today. Help me know who needs me. Help me see their pain. Help me wrap love and hope and healing into a necklace today.”
And with that she would carefully select a stone and begin wrapping, letting her prayer of love guide her.
Then, as she went about the day, she would look into people’s eyes… searching for “the one”, that one person who most needed to see their own beauty.
A Miracle in Walmart
One day I was with her in line at WalMart. After paying she stood there for a minute looking at the girl behind the cash register.
“Hey, this might seem weird, but can I give you a gift?”, Ruth said.
“Umm. What is it?”, the girl responded.
Reaching into her coat pocket, she pulled out the necklace she had wrapped that morning. She let it cascade out of her hands and hang there – a beautiful aqua-marine stone wrapped in silver, as if waves were crashing in a sea of glass.
It was stunning. Mesmerizing.
“I want to give you this. I wrapped it today. I just feel like you need it. You’re special you know. There’s only one of you. And this is the only necklace like this in the world. Please. Take it and remember how special you are and how loved you are.”
The cashier gently took the necklace and pressed against her face… and then began to cry.
“I needed this today. You don’t know how much I needed this. And blue is my favorite color. I love the ocean! Thank you.”
They hugged and cried together and parted ways.
It happened all the time.
Just the right stone. Just the right wrap. Just the right person.
I don’t know how it happened… but it always did.
A Christmas Gift of Love
Aunt Ruth came to visit us in Warrensburg, MO, Christmas of 2018.
On Christmas morning, I opened my presents and found a large box of wires, cutters, pliers and a few stones.
“Aunt Ruth! Thank you so much!” I hugged her tightly.
“Today, I will show you how to select a stone, match it with the right wire and do different wraps.”
For the next week, we spent hours together. She carefully and patiently gave me the gift of a loving talent.
It was like she was trying to transfer a lifetime of skill, love, joy and service to me so that someone else could continue on with her work.
It was a special, magical time.
Ruth Moves On…
Sadly, a few months later, on June 10, 2019, my Aunt Ruth started walking across the street to the grocery store and a car came speeding around the corner. She was killed instantly as the car struck her.
Over the past few years, I have worked hard to master the skills of love that made her wraps so unique and brought so much healing and joy to others.
Today, I make a very limited supply. I give away dozens… and it is always with a prayer in my heart. God guides me and the right stone, with the right wire always finds the right person.
I can’t be everywhere but I feel a desire to share my Aunt Ruth’s love and hope and healing with others.
My Gift To You and Your Loved Ones
And so, I invite you to look at the necklaces I have created and see if you don’t find yourself, your story, and your healing in one of them.
Or maybe you see the stone and wrap that is meant for a loved one. You’ll know when you see it.
Each necklace is unique and exclusive.
I select the stones by hand when they are still raw and rough. Then I tumble and polish them so that their beauty comes out. (Isn’t that just like life… we are all tumbled and polished so that our true beauty can shine!)
Then, I wrap them, infusing each stone with love.
Find yours today. There’s only one. It’s unique and beautiful… just like you.
